Noteworthy Items:
The Explore Program 2009 offers students an opportunity to live an exciting linguistic and cultural experience in a Francophone institution of their choice for five weeks during the summer session or spring session for post secondary students (current graduates). The bursary provided covers the cost of tuition, instructional materials, meals, and accommodation. The deadline for returning applications is February 28th. For more information, contact Mr. Donovan in Student Services.
Congratulations to Nichole McNeill who travelled to Ottawa recently to the Terry Fox Centre as part of the Encounters with Canada Program. Encounters with Canada is an annual exchange involving students and teachers from across Canada. Conferences, workshops, and exterior visits are creatively designed for the interactive program. The theme for Nichole’s visit was Law.
It is time for grade 12 students to start thinking about the next school year. A transcript sign up sheet is available to indicate where graduates would like their transcripts sent for next year’s studies. Please check the bursary board for new arrivals regarding financial aid for next year. For more details on this or other grad issues, contact Mr. Donovan in Student Services.

Late Policy:
Three Oaks has introduced a new late policy scheduled to begin the first day of the second semester. The following is the policy:
A "Late" is defined as entering a class following the late bell or being unprepared for class and unable to return with the necessary materials before the second bell which begins class (late bell). A "late" is excused if a note is presented regarding a special appointment or a school sponsored activity.
If a student shows up late, the subject teach will inform them they are late and record it. When a student reaches their 3rd late, the student will be assigned a 10 minute detention with the subject teacher. If a 4th, 5th or 6th late should occur, the student will be assigned a 30 minute detention to be served at lunchtime in the detention room. For each late after 6, a student will be assigned a one hour detention to be served over two lunch hours in the detention room.
Students must bring material with them to work on to be admitted to the detention room. There will be no food or drink allowed in the detention room.
Upcoming Dates:
February 9th Islander Day, no classes
February 16th RCMP Presentation on Drug Use/Abuse (evening)
February 19th Tourism Employment Showcase (Charlottetown)
