Monday, February 23rd - Day 1 (A-B-C-D) The special in the cafeteria at noon is chili cheese nachos or chicken stir fry.
In sports, the #1 girls’ and #1 boys’ basketball teams travel to Charlottetown Rural. Game times are 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, February 24th - Day 2 (B-A-D-C) The special in the cafeteria at noon is club wrap and salad or spaghetti.
Course handbooks will be distributed to students during home room period in the morning. Students will then be given time to consult and decide on their courses for the 2009-2010 school year. Course registration is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3rd.
Wednesday, February 25th - Day 1 (A-B-C-D) The special in the cafeteria at noon is chicken burger and fries.
A "Positive Choices" presentation will take place in the Lecture Theatre. Three Oaks is hosting a number of these sessions over the course of the year. The purpose is to help students meet some of the challenges they must face and help make positive choices in their lives. The topic for this session is "Registration."
Thursday, February 26th - Day 2 (B-A-D-C) The special in the cafeteria at noon is turkey dinner or macaroni casserole.
The Family Place family resource centre, will host lunch and learn sessions for the pregnant and parenting students in the school. They are invited to join Lori Clarke each Thursday as she’ll share lunch and information on topics such as; pre-natal care, labour, delivery, and parenting. The group meets each Thursday in the Three Oaks conference room at noon.
In sports, the #1 girls’ and #1 boys’ basketball semi finals are scheduled at UPEI.
A hypnotist performance is scheduled for the running from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. A school dance follows from 8 - 11 p.m. Normal school dance rules will apply.
Friday, February 27th - Day 1 (A-B-C-D) The special in the cafeteria at noon is fries with the works.
In sports, the #2 girls’ and #2 boys’ basketball teams semi finals are scheduled at UPEI.
Saturday, February 28th - The bronze medal games for all high school basketball teams are scheduled for UPEI. Watch for teams and times in the sports section.
Noteworthy Items:
Students applying to Holland College should take note that the first application review date is February 28th. This review is for application to courses beginning next September.
It is time for grade 12 students to start thinking about the next school year. A transcript sign up sheet is available to indicate where graduates would like their transcripts sent for next year’s studies. Please check the bursary board for new arrivals regarding financial aid for next year. For more details on this or other grad issues, contact Mr. Donovan in Student Services.
Report cards were handed out recently. Parents should ask if they have not seen end of semester marks for the first half of the school year.
The winter season is here and with it comes some questionable mornings regarding weather and school closures. Due to the size of the Western School Board, it may be necessary to delay or close all schools or some of the schools. When a partial delay or closure is called, it will be done on the basis of family of schools. The Three Oaks family of schools are composed of: Three Oaks Senior High, Summerside Intermediate, Athena Consolidated, Miscouche Consolidated, Elm Street Elementary, Greenfield Elementary, and Parkside Elementary.
There are three other families of schools. They are: The Kinkora Family, The Kensington Family, and the Westisle Family.
