Important Notice: The Three Oaks Administration and staff are asking parents/guardians to do their part in the fight against the H1N1 Virus by reporting their child’s absence to the school first thing in the morning. When doing so, it is very important that you specify whether or not the child is absent due to influenza-like-illness. Influenza-like-illness (ILI) includes acute onset of respiratory symptoms with fever and cough and one or more of the following symptoms: sore throat, muscle aches, joint pain or weakness. Gastrointestinal symptoms may also be present and fever may not be prominent. If students are exhibiting these symptoms, we ask that they stay out of school until they are symptom free.Please report all absences to the school by phoning the school at 888-8460 and leaving a message on our answering machine which is available 24hours a day, by speaking directly with a member of the Administration or by emailing LINK"mailto:pdrodgerson@edu.pe.ca"pdrodgerson@edu.pe.ca. Representatives from St. Thomas University will be speaking in the Lecture Theatre at lunch time. All students interested in learning more about St. Thomas University are encouraged to attend. In sports, Field Hockey is hosting Rural at 5:30.Tuesday, September 22nd - Day 1 of the schedule.
Wednesday, September 23rd - Day 2 of the schedule.The Scholastic Award Assembly has been moved to Wednesday, Sept 23rd. At this assembly grade 11 & 12 students will be recognized for their efforts during the 2008-2009 school year. 188 students will receive Honour Certificates, approximately 60 students will receive Top Subject prizes and a number of other students will be recognized for their outstanding efforts. We would like to thank our sponsors: the Credit Union Place, TOSH Administration and Student Council Magazine Campaign for their generous contributions.Grad photos begin today. Grads are asked to please sign up for times on the sheets provided on the bulletin board outside the main office. The sitting fee must be paid on the day of the sitting.
In sports, the A Women’s volleyball team hosts Morell at 5:00. Men’s and Women’s AAA volleyball will play at Gray at 5:30. Thursday, September 24th - Day 1 of the schedule.
McGill, Concordia and Bishops University will be giving a presentation at 9am in the Lecture Theatre. All students interested in attending this information session are asked to sign up in Student Services.An Open House for parents is scheduled for the evening. The following is the program: Parents are asked to arrive between 6:00 and 6:20 pm to pick up student schedules and SAS login codes. Parent meetings will begin at 6:30 pm at the following locations: parents of grade 10 students will meet in the cafeteria, parents of grade 11 students will meet in the Lecture Theatre and parents of grade 12 students will meet in the gymnasium.Individual classroom sessions will begin at 6:55 pm. Subject teachers will be available in their classrooms for 10 minute sessions. Parents can locate teachers by reading their schedules. Schedules contain the student’s subjects and the block and location for each subject (Block A-B-C-D). Teachers will briefly present course outlines, method of evaluation, classroom expectations, etc.The Annual General Meeting of the TOSH Parent Council will take place in the James Wallace MacNeill Learning Centre at 8 p.m.
Friday, September 25th - Day 2 of the schedule.
St. Thomas University will be providing an information session on the University entrance process at lunch in the Lecture Theatre. Please note that the information provided will not be specific to St. Thomas University, but general information on the entrance process for all Universities. In sports, Men’ s and Women’s AAA volleyball and the TOSH Field Hockey team will participate in a tournament in Montague. Noteworthy Items:This year’s Student Council Magazine Campaign will begin October 8th and run th rough to October 26th. We would like to thank those in the community who have supported our campaign in the past and encourage them to continue to do so. The Magazine Campaign helps to fund many student activities at TOSH. To support this year’s campaign, you may order or renew subscriptions through Three Oaks students or through the QSP link accessible on the Three Oaks website.
TOSH would like to inform the public of our ongoing Reading Program. As a school, we start each day with a 15 minute silent reading period in order to encourage our students to read and develop their literacy skills. In order to support our endeavours, we would appreciate it if the general public donated reading materials, in particular current magazines, to the school by dropping them off in the main office during regular business hours.
