Monday, January 12th - Day 1 (A-B-C-D) The special in the cafeteria at noon is chicken caesar salad or ham and scallop potatoes.
In sports, the #2 girls’ and #2 boys’ basketball teams host Westisle. Game times are 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, January 13th - Day 2 (B-A-D-C) The special in the cafeteria at noon is club wrap and salad or chicken breast dinner.
The Hospitality and Tourism class will host the Annual Expo 2009 in the gym from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Each student has chosen a country and makes a presentation as its’ representative. The host students will act as guides for the displays for their country. Over 60 countries are represented each year. The public is welcome to attend.
Wednesday, January 14th - Day 1 (A-B-C-D) The special in the cafeteria at noon is whistle dogs and fries.
The Hospitality and Tourism class will hold its’ Annual Expo 2009 in the gym from 9:00 - 11:45 a.m. Students from other classes as well as the public are invited to attend.
A "Positive Choices" presentation will take place in the Lecture Theatre. Three Oaks is hosting a number of these sessions over the course of the school year. The purpose is to help students meet some of the challenges they must face and help make positive choices in their lives. The topic for this session is "Family Violence."
There will be an Armed Forces presentation in the Lecture Theatre at noon. General information will be provided on all aspects of the military which includes Nursing, skilled Technical Trades, Office Training, Regular Forces, etc. Individual break out sessions will follow at 1 p.m. Students must pre-register in Student Services to attend.
In sports, the #1 girls’ and #1 boys’ basketball teams host Charlottetown Rural. Game times are 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. The #2 girls’ and #2 boys’ basketball teams travel to Morell. Game times are 6 and 8 p.m.
Thursday, January 15th - Day 2 (B-A-D-C) The special in the cafeteria at noon is turkey dinner or macaroni casserole.
The Family Place family resource centre, will host lunch and learn sessions for the pregnant and parenting students in the school. They are invited to join Lori Clarke each Thursday as she’ll share lunch and information on topics such as; pre-natal care, labour, delivery, and parenting. The group meets each Thursday in the Three Oaks conference room at noon.
Friday, January 16th - Day 1 (A-B-C-D) The special in the cafeteria at noon is bacon cheeseburger and fries.
In sports, the #2 girls’ basketball team travels to Kensington to take part in the KISH tournament. The #2 boys’ team are hosting their own tournament. The following is the schedule: 2:30 p.m. - TOSH vs KISH, 4:15 p.m. - Charlottetown Rural vs Colonel Gray, 6 p.m. - Bluefield vs TOSH, 7:45 p.m. - Colonel Gray vs Montague.
Saturday, January 17th - In sports, the #2 girls’ basketball team is in Kensington participating in the KISH tournament. The #2 boys’ basketball team are hosting their own tournament. The following is the schedule:
9 a.m. - KISH vs Bluefield, 10:45 - Charlottetown Rural vs Montague, 12:15 p.m. - #3 teams from each pool, 2 p.m. - #2 teams from each pool, 3:45 p.m. - championship game.
Noteworthy Items:
Exams are only 2 weeks away beginning on Tuesday, January 27th. Second semester begins on Tuesday, February 3rd.
It is time for grade 12 students to start thinking about the next school year. A transcript sign up sheet is available to indicate where graduates would like their transcripts sent for next year’s studies. Please check the bursary board for new arrivals regarding financial aid for next year. For more details on this or other grad issues, contact Mr. Donovan in Student Services.
Congratulations to Katie White who travelled to Ottawa recently to the Terry Fox Centre as part of the Encounters with Canada Program. Encounters with Canada is an annual exchange involving students and teachers from across Canada. Conferences, workshops, and exterior visits are creatively designed for the interactive program. The theme for Katie’s visit was Medicine and Health.
Congratulations to Blake Paynter who was chosen Three Oaks "Student of the Week" recently. Blake receives a book bag compliments of Consolidated Credit Union.
The "Rotary Adventure in Citizenship" is an opportunity for 200+ student representatives from across Canada to meet in Ottawa to develop their potential as leaders in their communities and in Canadian society. The program runs from May 3rd - 6th.
Successful participants will receive a free flight to Ottawa courtesy of the Summerside Rotary Club and are placed with billet families who provide meals, transportation, and lodging during their stay.
Interested students must fill out an application form which must be submitted by Friday, February 13th. For more information, contact Mr. Donovan in Student Services.
