Monday, November 17th - Day 2 (B-A-D-C) The special in the cafeteria at noon is whistle dogs and fries.
Our annual Career Day is scheduled for the gym during the afternoon. Representatives will be available from numerous colleges, universities and various career sectors, to answer any questions. The evening stars off with a "Next Step" presentation for parents and guardians in the lecture theatre at 6:00 pm. Then the gym will re-open from 7 - 9 p.m. Parents are welcome to visit the displays at this time as well as the students.
Students and parents are urged to attend these displays. This is one of the few opportunities where students can meet and speak with career specialists of their choice.
A Parent Council meeting is scheduled for the MacNeill Learning Centre beginning at 6 p.m.
Tuesday, November 18th - Day 1 (A-B-C-D) The special in the cafeteria at noon is chili with cheese nachos or club wrap and salad.
Wednesday, November 19th - Day 2 (B-A-D-C) The special in the cafeteria at noon is chicken breast dinner or roast beef dinner.
Holland College is hosting an Open House at the following locations: Slemon Park Centre, Atlantic Police Academy, and the Marine Training Centre.
The Slemon Park Centre offers the following courses: carpentry, electrical, ventilation and air conditioning, machinist, cabinet making, aircraft turbine engine repair, automotive, and wind turbine technology.
The Atlantic Police Academy offers the following courses: basic firefighting, conservation enforcement, correctional officer, law and security, and police science.
The Marine Training Centre offers many courses which include: cargo handling, marine engineering, bridge watchman, electronic navigation, marine first aid, basis safety, and advanced firefighting.
These locations are open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. The public is welcome to drop in, talk to students and instructors, and see what type of learning takes place.
Thursday, November 20th - Day 1 (A-B-C-D) The special in the cafeteria at noon is turkey dinner or macaroni casserole.
The Family Place family resource centre, will host lunch and learn sessions for the pregnant and parenting students in the school. They are invited to join Lori Clarke each Thursday as she’ll share lunch and information on topics such as; pre-natal care, labour, delivery, and parenting. The group meets each Thursday in the Three Oaks conference room at noon.
Friday, November 21st - Day 2 (B-A-D-C) The special in the cafeteria at noon is fries or mashed potatoes with the works.
In sports, the AAA-girls’ and AAA-boys’ basketball teams travel to the Miramichi for a tournament.
Noteworthy Items:
Seventeen students from TOSH will leave for Ortona, Italy this week to commemorate the 65th
Anniversary of the Battle of Ortona during World War Two. They will meet with approximately 6,000 other Canadian students from high schools across Canada to participate in this celebration. Each student will choose one locally born Canadian soldier who was in Ortona in 1943 and they will research his life and his involvement while in Ortona. Once in Ortona, students will have the opportunity to trace the steps of the soldiers they have become familiar with through their research.
Congratulations to the Three Oaks Envirothon team who won the provincial competition held in Charlottetown recently. The team will now begin preparations to attend the International Canon Envirothon competition to be held in North Carolina next summer. Members of the winning team are Leanne Gaudet, Courtney Fitzgerald, Dee Jay Pardy, Wayne Gallant, and Jenna Gaudet.
Congratulations to Brittany Caseley who travelled to Ottawa recently to the Terry Fox Centre as part of the Encounters with Canada Program. Encounters with Canada is an annual exchange involving students and teachers from across Canada. Conferences, workshops, and exterior visits are creatively designed for the interactive program. The theme for Brittany’s visit was Sport and Fitness.
